Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known failings from his squad in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove again what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
