British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
