Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Problems.

'Significant concern' for the English camp after Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer increased England's injury problems after leaving the field during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

Team management indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test of the tour at the SCG begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The English side has been without fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.

He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, before adding 28 while batting being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he returned on Saturday morning and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
