The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.
During the fall season, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel launched a fresh animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often characterized by dark humor, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.
A Major Commitment
In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.
"I’m so grateful to the audience of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."
Network Praise
Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who found the show and supported its distinctly quirky appeal.
"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"
A Different Kind of Comedy
When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this lovable family navigate their everyday routines.
Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its long-running sarcastic tone. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.
“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”
What Comes Next
With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.
The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
