This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the beginning of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “six-seven” – deriving from a musical verse – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and cafecito as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
